Water Vole Workshops
PRICES 1 to 1 £135, 2 to 1 £200, GROUP (3 max) £80
These workshops are proving really successful with clients taking, on average, over 200 images of these delightful creatures in just a morning. What is more, you can virtually double that number if you stay on in the afternoon.
How Close?
This image shows workshop client Dr Dominic Tantram proving my claim that you can get very close. Here he is using a Canon 100 – 400mm zoom lens around 280mm. The vole ignores him, having swum across the stream; it is concentrating on eating the fresh grass shoots.
Grazing
Remember these voles are completely wild and are not photographed in a zoo or wildlife reserve. It really has to be one of best locations in the UK and one that you will be able to return to at your leisure.
On a mission
Be prepared for swimming shots. I am on hand at all times and will advise you when a vole is about to take to the water.
Did you call?
A number of entrances in the opposite bank barely 10 feet away provide plenty of opportunities for shots like this.
Taking a break
The vegetation on the other bank is diverse and provides you with a variety of different and interesting shots. Just what the picture researchers are looking for.
Large adult
Remember these workshops are run on weekdays and not weekends and I can only organise the group workshops (3 persons max) on a week-by-week basis. However if you would rather have a 1-1 or a 2-1 day then I can book your specific dates no problem.
Voles plus Adders
I am also taking bookings for combined days. Combined days consist of one day on the voles followed by one day on the adders as the sites are relatively close to one another. These days are currently only available to clients booking 1-1 or 2-1 workshops. If you book a combination day you receive 10% discount and that helps to mitigate the cost of an overnight stay.
Re the adders I still have to do my recce but bad weather and falling temperatures here in the South have stopped me from doing so. As soon as I can get out to them I will announce these workshops.
