Hi Everyone

Butterfly Photography and Dragonfly Photography Workshops

I have just returned from two fabulous weeks in the south of Croatia fairly close to Dubrovnik. The potential for wildlife photography in this country is truly amazing and I hope to go back next year with a tour. It will take place in the spring and I have already been in discussion with a great wildlife guide so watch this space!

Whilst there I took a few pictures that are particularly relevant to my next two workshops. Now what may surprise you is that these are all handheld shots. You are often being told that you cannot take really sharp images without the use of a tripod – am I right? Well let me tell you, you most definitely can! Obviously I am not talking about using long telephoto lenses but I do know some American bird photographers that do hand hold 500mm and 600mm lenses.

However if your subjects are insects where the lenses required are much smaller and therefore lighter and you use my unique hand holding technique you can take sharp images. No, it is not a case of pushing up the ISO, I’m pretty sure the highest I used here was ISO 200. I first developed the idea about 12 months ago and now I have it off pat. Well judge for yourself – are these images pin sharp or not?

So right now I am announcing two of my most popular group workshops and they are Butterfly Photography and Dragonfly Photography. You can see all the info you need about the subject matter by opening the workshop tab on my website. Naturally on both of these workshops I will reveal my hand holding technique for lenses up to 200mm.

What I have found popular is to run both of these workshops on consecutive days as they take place on the Surrey/Sussex border at locations that are relatively close together. For anyone travelling a long distance it means you can attend both workshops with just a single overnight stop if necessary. The cost of each workshop is £85 and limited to a maximum of six participants. If you want to attend both workshops you only pay £150 obviously saving you £20 which would mitigate the cost of overnight accommodation should you need it.

The first workshop will be the Dragonflies and is scheduled for Wednesday 19th July followed by the Butterflies on Thursday 20th. Should bad weather prevent either or both workshops taking place they will be re-scheduled at the next available day which would be Friday 21st. If this happens and you cannot make the new date your money will be refunded in full.

So check out both courses on the workshop tab and email me ASAP if you want to attend either or both. Remember my group courses are limited to just 6 participants max. On receipt I will send you confirmation of your booking, an invoice plus all the relevant info you will need, locations, times, equipment etc. etc. I look forward to hearing from you and remember there are only six places available on each course.

Best wishes George
